High school music festival at Saint John Paul the Great

The Diocesan Honors Ensembles Music Festival will be held Oct. 26-28 at Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School, 17700 Dominican Dr., Dumfries. Approximately 200 students from four diocesan high schools involved in band, orchestra and choir will participate.

 

Under the direction of guest conductors, the musicians will perform a variety of styles and difficulty levels of music. The guest conductors include: for band, Ed Jones, conductor emeritus from the Prince William Community Band; for orchestra, William Hollins from the PVYO Philharmonia in Hagerstown, Md.; and for choir, Thomas Tutwiler, choral director at Hylton High School in Prince William County and counter-tenor at the Washington National Cathedral.

There will be a performance by the Prince William Community Band Oct. 28 at noon, followed by the student performance at 2 p.m. in the theater.
