Paul VI Panthers defeated at WCAC Basketball Championships

Both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams of Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax advanced to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title games Feb. 27 at American University’s Bender Arena. The boys were defeated by Gonzaga College High School in Washington 68-55, while the girls lost to St. John’s High School in Washington 58-52. It was only their second loss of the season.
Senior guard Chris Lykes scored 20 points for Gonzaga, while senior Aisha Sheppard led St. John’s with 24 points. Senior Aaron Thompson and junior Brandon Slater each scored 15 for Paul VI. Senior Mikayla Vaughn had 16 for the girls.
