Despite the progressively rainy weather Sept. 26, the annual parish fall festival at St. Ann in Arlington drew a crowd.
Indoor bingo, new this year, a cake walk and raffle competed with bounce houses, an extensive array of international food and several rides outside.
Missionhurst Father Wil Amnunuh, parochial vicar, was in the dunk tank, literally, wishing he had a towel and heated water.
Pastor Father John Raharjo, also a Missionhurst, kept the festivities going with the colorful, multicultural entertainment. As the Bolivian Suri Sicuris dancers wrapped up their performance, the rain picked up.
“The weather is always the X factor,” Father John said.
“Welcoming the fall season brings the school community together with the parish community for fellowship and as a fundraising event for the school,” he said.
For 84 year-old Susan August, a parishioner for 58 years, it was a great way to catch up with friends. “It’s old home week.”
She said in the years she’s been at the parish, she’s held half the volunteer jobs there, her husband was chair of the parish council, and her boys went to school there.
With one hand on her walker and the other holding a big cloud of blue cotton candy, she said she was glad to be there, despite the rain.
