On Oct. 11 we celebrate 25 years since the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, described by Pope John Paul II as “a special gift of divine providence.” Over these years, the gift of the Catechism has inspired a renewed appreciation for our Catholic faith in its beauty and integrity. Catechists and teachers, students, and anyone who desires to learn more about our faith have found in the Catechism a rich presentation of the faith we profess, celebrate, and live.

I am grateful for the many ways the Catechism has deepened these dimensions in the lives of our faithful — universally, nationally and particularly here in our diocese. As we look forward from this anniversary, may we continue to make use of the Catechism of the Catholic Church as a great means of equipping us all to proclaim our faith confidently, courageously, and charitably so that our brothers and sisters will come to know the Lord and share in His gift of eternal life.
