Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington was recently recognized as one of the best private schools in Virginia by Niche, a national college and school search platform.

In a ranking released in September, O’Connell was ranked first among Catholic high schools and 22nd among private schools in Virginia.

“Rooted in Christ and committed to excellence in all things, Bishop O’Connell has long stood out for its Catholic identity, dynamic school culture and community, and determination to live out our mission each day,” said Jonathan Brand, head of school. “It is a joyful school, and we are grateful to be recognized and appreciated by our families.”

Niche’s rankings were determined by analyzing federal and state data, school statistics and reviews from students, parents and faculty. Statistics on academic success, college enrollment, student experience, athletic opportunities, student-teacher ratio and school accreditation, among other factors, were also analyzed.
