Saint John Paul the Great welcomes Dominican Sister Maria Sophia as the new assistant principal of student life and discipline and Father Jonathan Smith as the new chaplain.

Sister Maria Sophia comes with 10 years of experience teaching at the middle and high school levels. She recently completed her master’s in educational leadership at the University of Notre Dame.

Before attending seminary at St. Charles Borromeo in Lower Gwynedd, Pa., Father Smith earned his undergraduate degree in government and international politics at George Mason University in Fairfax. After graduation, he spent two years as a FOCUS missionary at Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, N.C., where he grew in his zeal for serving young people and discerned his vocation to the priesthood. He loves to cook, travel, hike and go on adventures — a good combination for a high school chaplain.
